Closes 9 Nov 2025

Our Wirral Bus Network

The future of the bus network for the Liverpool City Region will be shaped by considering the existing bus network and once back under control, potential to introducing improvements to encourage and enable more people to travel by public transport, whether using the bus for the whole or part of a journey.

When looking at possible changes to the network, we will consider how best to:

  • Create a user-friendly public transport network, where journey planning is easier
  • Improve bus frequency and extend hours of service
  • Improve low frequency routes through coordination or route changes
  • Better integration with the rail network for seamless travel
  • Improve access to important locations such as schools, colleges, shops and hospitals
  • Plan for future residential and industrial developments to support housebuilding and job creation
  • Work with neighbouring regions to provide a coordinated services

We would like to know how often you currently use the bus for particular types of journeys, and know what changes or improvements you feel would be beneficial to the bus network in Wirral going forward.

What happens next?

For now we are only looking to gather feedback on the Wirral bus network, but we will be asking people about the bus network in other areas as we move through the Bus Franchising process.
